Toxin Yield Rate
VC-MET-210 — the batch-normalized rate at which the Phyto-Synthesis Bay and Toxin Yield Reactor produce assay-grade compound, in kilograms per week.
Definition
The Toxin Yield Rate is the assay-confirmed mass of purified target compound produced per unit time, expressed as a kilogram-per-week rate computed on a rolling hourly roll-up. "Toxin" here denotes any controlled bioactive output of the curated collection — alkaloids, glycosides, and engineered secondary metabolites — gated to its certified purity floor (VC-MET-217). Mass below the purity floor is excluded from yield.
Why it matters
Yield rate is the primary output KPI of the Toxin Yield Reactor program and the financial and strategic heartbeat of the Directorate's research mandate. Sustained shortfall signals upstream biomass stress, reactor conversion loss (VC-MET-219), or extraction-purity drift; sustained over-production against committed cold-chain capacity is itself a safety flag.
Formula
Weekly rate is the purity-gated compound mass over the assay window, annualized to a weekly basis and corrected for the reference biomass charge:
ToxinYield (kg/wk) = ( Σ m_i · 1[π_i ≥ π_floor] ) / Δt_wk where: m_i = assayed compound mass of batch i (kg) π_i = extraction purity of batch i, % w/w (VC-MET-217) π_floor = certified purity floor = 95.0 % w/w 1[·] = indicator: 1 if purity gate met, else 0 Δt_wk = elapsed window expressed in weeks — Batch normalization (for cross-batch comparison, VC-MET-211): — Y_norm = ( m_i · π_i / 100 ) / B_i (g compound / kg biomass) B_i = dry biomass charge of batch i (kg) Target Y_norm band: 9.5 – 13.0 g/kg — Facility rate is the sum across active reactors, EMA-smoothed (α = 0.3) over the trailing 168 h to suppress batch-edge spikes. —
Inputs

| mi | Assayed compound mass | — | kg | Lab |
| πi | Extraction Purity | VC-MET-217 | % w/w | Lab |
| Bi | Dry biomass charge | — | kg | Lab |

Units & Scale
Reported in kg·wk⁻¹ to one decimal place at facility level; batch-normalized yield (VC-MET-211) in g·kg⁻¹ biomass. Yield is purity-gated: only mass at or above the 95.0 % w/w floor counts. Rates are EMA-smoothed and never reported from a window with fewer than two completed batches (insufficient-data flag instead).
Sampling & Lab Method
- Roll-up cadence: recomputed hourly; published as a 168-h trailing weekly rate.
- Assay method: reverse-phase HPLC-UV against certified reference standard, dual-injection, per the Phyto-Synthesis Bay lab method
LM-TOX-07. - Mass basis: gravimetric, lyophilized compound, balance calibrated each shift.
- Purity gate: VC-MET-217 ≥ 95.0 % w/w; sub-floor mass quarantined and excluded.
- Chain of custody: every batch sealed, bar-coded, and logged to the Mycelial Data Fabric before assay.
