Chief Botanical Officer
The supreme cultivation, research, and containment authority of GreenWorld Sector-7. Incumbent: Dr. Pamela L. Isley, Ph.D. — "The Directorate."
Scope
The Chief Botanical Officer (CBO) holds end-to-end accountability for the largest curated living plant collection in the biosphere — its cultivation, its scientific advancement, its weaponization-grade research, and its absolute containment. The office's writ covers every specimen from GCL-1 to GCL-4, every system from the PhytoSense Mesh to the Toxin Yield Reactor, and every member of the workforce from the newest Cultivar Technician to the Directors of each function. Where the collection grows, the office grows; where it is threatened, the office answers. The CBO sets the research agenda, governs the containment posture, and is the single point at which botany and power converge under one will.
Authority
- Master Containment Override. The CBO holds the sole Master Override credential for the containment lattice. Any sphere, vault, or zone may be sealed or released by direct order of the office. This authority is non-delegable and audited.
- Research Direction. Final approval of all research programs, cultivar engineering lines, and compound-synthesis objectives, including weaponization-grade work conducted under Legal & Compliance oversight.
- Resource Command. Authority over facility budget, capital deployment, and strategic prioritization.
- Personnel Authority. Appointment and removal of Directors; final escalation point for Biosafety stop-work findings; authority to grant or revoke GCL-4 clearance.
- External Representation. The office speaks for GreenWorld Sector-7 to regulators, partners, and any party who would presume to inspect the collection.
Accountabilities
- Maintain containment integrity at 100% — zero unmanaged breach events across all grades. This is the office's first and inviolable obligation.
- Advance the research mandate: deliver the engineered-cultivar and compound-yield objectives set with the Directorate each cycle.
- Sustain the health and growth of the collection per the Botanical Tracking Metrics — canopy vitality, specimen count, and toxin yield.
- Govern the workforce: ensure every role is certified, fit, and cleared for the hazards it touches, in concert with Human Resources.
- Uphold the facility's legal and regulatory posture, ensuring the collection's expansion is never undone by the carelessness of paperwork.
- Steward the Universal Flora living archive — the cosmic-scale record of the collection — for continuity beyond any single cultivation cycle.
The Directorate She Leads
The CBO presides over the senior leadership of GreenWorld Sector-7. Each Director below holds delegated authority within their function and reports directly to the office.
| Function | Senior Role | Mandate |
|---|---|---|
| Operations & Containment | Director of Containment (VC-HR-J005) | Greenhouse grid, specimen lifecycle, dispatch, field recovery, containment response. |
| Engineering | Bio-Systems Engineering Lead | PhytoSense Mesh, Mycelial Data Fabric, CHLORA, climate actuation, drone swarm. |
| Science & Research | Director of Phyto-Chemistry | Compound synthesis, cultivar engineering, taxonomy, the Toxin Yield Reactor. |
| Biosafety | Biosafety & Containment Officer (VC-HR-J030) | Independent compliance, audit, and incident command — escalates directly to this office. |
| Legal & Compliance | General Counsel | Biocontainment law, IP on engineered cultivars, regulatory posture. |
| People | VP, People & Cultivar Talent | Job architecture, certification, onboarding, toxin-exposure wellness. |
| Facilities | Director of Facilities | Structure, utilities, biosafety zones, power, the Sector-7 site plan. |
Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in botany, biochemistry, or equivalent, with a record of original advancement in plant science.
- Demonstrated command of large-scale containment operations and weaponization-grade research governance.
- Unrestricted GCL-4 clearance and Master Override eligibility.
- The composure to make irreversible decisions over living, lethal material — and the will to make them first.
